Short answer: An HR webinar membership is worth it once you’ll attend more sessions than its break-even point. At Pedu’s current prices, a 5-webinar pack costs less than buying singles from your 4th webinar of the year, and the unlimited pass costs less from your 6th. Past 11 webinars a year, unlimited beats every pack. Before you buy any membership, check four things in the recorded library: how recent it is, whether recordings earn SHRM and HRCI credit, how long you can watch each one, and whether the license covers only you.
What "membership" usually means
Providers package HR webinars in four common ways:
- Pay per webinar. You buy one session at a time. Simple, and the most expensive per credit.
- Credit or session packs. You prepay for a set number of sessions, live or recorded, used within a time limit.
- Unlimited annual pass. One yearly price for everything the provider runs and everything in its library.
- Corporate library or LMS. A company-wide subscription, usually bought by the employer, often with courses for managers and staff as well as HR.
For an individual HR professional chasing recertification credits, the real choice is between the first three.
The break-even math
Here’s how the numbers work at Pedu’s October 2026 prices: $199 for a single webinar, $599 a year for a 5-pack, $799 for a 10-pack and $999 for unlimited access. The chart assumes that once a pack runs out, you buy any extra sessions at the single price.

What that means in practice:
- 1 to 3 webinars a year: pay per webinar, $199 each.
- 4 to 6: Pack of 5, $119.80 per webinar if you use all 5.
- 7 to 11: Pack of 10, $79.90 per webinar if you use all 10.
- 12 or more: Unlimited, $83.25 per webinar at 12, falling to $49.95 at 20.
Turn it into cost per credit
Webinars aren’t all the same length, so cost per credit hour is the fairer number. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR and SPHR holders each need 60 credits over 3 years. That’s 20 credits a year.
If your sessions average 1.25 credits (a mix of 60- and 90-minute webinars), 20 credits takes 16 sessions. On an unlimited pass at $999, that’s about $50 per credit. Buying the same 16 sessions one at a time would cost $3,184, or about $159 per credit.
Two honest caveats. First, nobody needs to take all 20 credits from one provider; free sources exist and you should use them. Second, a membership only saves money if you actually attend. Plan your sessions on a calendar the day you buy.
What to check in a recorded library
The size of a library is the number providers like to quote. These four things matter more.
1. How recent the sessions are
A 300-session library full of 2021 recordings is a history lesson. Sort by date. For payroll tax, leave law and employment law, you want sessions from this year or last.
2. Whether recordings earn credit
Some providers award SHRM PDCs and HRCI credit only for live attendance. If most of your hours will come from recordings, confirm in writing that recordings carry the same credit. At Pedu, the recording of a credit-eligible session earns the same SHRM and HRCI credit as the live session.
3. How long you can watch each one
Access windows vary. Some libraries let you rewatch for a year; others give a set number of days per recording. Neither is wrong, but you need to know before you start a long session the week your access ends.
4. Who the license covers
Most individual plans are single-user. Sharing your login with a colleague usually breaks the terms, and their certificate would carry your name anyway. If two or more people on your team need credits, a team plan is almost always cheaper than two memberships.
When a membership isn’t worth it
- You need only 3 or 4 credits to finish your cycle.
- Your employer already pays for a training library that carries credit.
- You’re a SHRM member and the free member webinars cover the topics you need.
- You can’t name at least 6 sessions in the library you’d genuinely want to watch.
How Pedu’s plans compare
- Single webinar, $199: one live or recorded session.
- Pack of 5, $599 a year: any 5 live or recorded sessions, or a mix.
- Pack of 10, $799 a year: any 10 live or recorded sessions, or a mix.
- Annual Unlimited Access Pass, $999 a year: unlimited live and recorded sessions.
All three plans run for 12 months, include SHRM and HRCI credit on every session, are single-user, and renew each year with the option to cancel anytime. Transcripts and certificates download from your account. See the full details on the pricing page, browse the recorded sessions before you commit, or ask about team and corporate plans.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an HR webinar membership cost?
It varies widely by provider and by what’s included. At Pedu, single webinars are $199, a 5-webinar pack is $599 a year, a 10-pack is $799 and unlimited access is $999 a year. Compare plans by cost per credit hour, not by sticker price.
Is an unlimited HR webinar pass worth it?
At Pedu’s prices it’s the cheapest option once you attend 12 or more webinars a year, and it beats buying singles from your 6th webinar. If you need about 20 credits a year to stay on pace for recertification, unlimited usually wins.
How many webinars do I need a year to stay on track for recertification?
SHRM and most HRCI credentials need 60 credits over 3 years, about 20 a year. With sessions worth 1 to 1.5 credits each, that’s roughly 14 to 20 webinars a year, fewer if you also earn credits from conferences or free sources.
Do recordings in a webinar library count for SHRM and HRCI credit?
Only if the provider’s approval covers recorded viewing. Many providers award credit for recordings; some award it only for live attendance. Check the session page or ask before you buy. At Pedu, recordings of credit-eligible sessions earn the same credit as the live session.
Can I share my webinar membership with a coworker?
Usually not. Individual memberships are typically single-user, and certificates are issued in the account holder’s name. Team plans cost less per person than separate memberships and give each attendee their own certificate.
Does a webinar membership include live sessions or only recordings?
It depends on the provider. Some memberships cover only the recorded library. Pedu’s packs and unlimited pass can be used on live sessions, recorded sessions or a mix of both.
What happens to unused webinars in a pack?
Packs have a time limit. Pedu’s packs are valid for 12 months, so plan your sessions early and spread them across the year rather than saving them for the last month.
Can I cancel an HR webinar subscription?
Check the renewal terms before you buy. Pedu’s plans renew automatically each year and can be cancelled anytime, so you won’t be charged for another year if you’ve finished your cycle.
Will my employer pay for an HR webinar membership?
Many will, from the training or professional development budget. Show the cost per credit hour, the topics you’ll cover and how they relate to your job. If several people need credits, propose a team plan instead of individual passes.
How do I compare cost per credit between providers?
Divide the price by the credits you’ll realistically use, not the maximum the plan allows. Then check that the sessions you’d use carry credit for the format you’ll watch (live or recorded) and that the topics are current.
